Inner Gathering: A new working title!
And an opening author's note, and a table of contents, and I need your help!
What is the essence of this next book you’re writing? What if you distilled it down to its most essential ingredients? What if it was straight-forward and lean and practical?
Those were the questions posed to me by my brilliant literary agent a few weeks ago.
Instantly, the muddy puddle that had been The Inner Gathering came clear. All the silt of its many possibilities settled to the bottom. Her questions, in combination with your feedback over the last eight months, resulted in an explosive evolution of this project:
a title that speaks to the felt need of every reader
a subtitle that communicates the simple promise of the book
a table of contents that feels like every conversation I’ve had with every audience I’ve spoken to over the last couple of years
the use of the word Self instead of ego (the Latin word for “I”), because ego is a word with many confusing connotations and in a lean book you don’t have time to redefine a concept for the reader
and an opening that quickly clarifies the essential difference between the Soul and the Self
So, without further ado, here’s the next evolution of The Inner Gathering. I’d love your feedback, but this is my job, not yours, so do so if it brings you joy!
