This one struck a chord within me and I remember that moment at the concert and I was lucky to be apart of that collective sigh! 😌 thanks for these messages today Kelly!
this one Kelly is one of my favorites beautifully spoken and the resonance within in deeply felt. thank you and happy Independence Day from what holds us all back from becoming free to be all we can be!!
Dang Kelly - mic drop moment here. The simplicity with which you have captured the essence of spirituality and the temporary journey of humaning, is really special. Thank you for leaning into your gift and sharing it with the world!
I read this earlier and my mind couldn’t put together a response. I just read a description for why Jesus so often spoke in parables: James Martin in “The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything” writes “The parable form is one of the primary ways in which Jesus of Nazareth communicates his understanding of elusive but important concepts. Where a strictly worded definition closes down thought and can be shallow, a story opens the hearers mind and is endlessly deep.”
I think this explains why I had a hard time putting an initial response together because your story has opened my mind and it is deepening my understanding of freedom.
As always, Kelly, thank you for using story to communicate important and sometimes elusive concepts.
It's one of the reasons I love writing fiction, Rho. You can feel the truth in it before you can even think about it. We think thought is the doorway to understanding, but oftentimes story is the doorway and thought is what we find once we're in the room with it. 😊
Thank you Kelly. A new take on words that we toss around every day. Especially timely due to tomorrow being the 4th. As I ponder your words, and am reminded to be grateful for “here.” All of it.
Teyani, that reminds me of a quote I heard somewhere: “You can’t be grateful for every moment, but you can be grateful in any moment.” There’s almost always something “here” that we can be thankful for.
My immediate response to reading this Kelly...Whoa. Wow. Hmmm. Sobering. Wise as Hell. Disappointingly true as Hell. How adult is this?? Can I actually do this? I am definitely going to share this beauty with all my sons and even my daughter in law. Especially love the letter from Love. So beautiful and a gift to yourself and to the rest of us for the inspiration to indulge in such a courageous endeavor. What a perfect post for tomorrow's ambivalent feelings of the day. A grateful way to now transcend my original mindset. TY Kindly.
I did, and you as well. I’m happy to tell you that I forwarded your post to all my sons. So beautiful to share these things with our adult kids. Your thoughts provided individual bonding moments of intimacy and rich discussions 🙏🙌
Oh the list of all of the things I thought would bring me freedom...It's fascinating to watch the mind offer up more potential solutions, though none will bring it. In reading this post I realize that I have often wanted to be free FROM the human condition - and nobody gets that pass. And the reality is, that would be a life of very little meaning.
YES. Wonderful observation, Jane. It makes me think: we are about to see an intelligence (artificial) that is free from the human condition, and I think we are going to get to watch how meaningless it feels. Perhaps one of the unexpected outcomes of it will be a new appreciation for the human condition!
Beautiful. Just perfectly what I need to hear. And pass forward to those who need it. Love.
Nicole, I'm so glad to hear it arrived at the right time for you. Thanks for letting me know. 😊
The perfect post to help us all embrace freedom tomorrow. I am 72 and free to do whatever I like. So I am still moving and learning and seeking.
Yes! Still moving and learning and seeking, freely. Love that, Susan. I hope you have a great holiday tomorrow!
WOW!
What an incredible gift your writing is.
What an incredible gift your enthusiastic reaction is. 😊

You were there too! It was a soggy night, but well worth it. Makes me happy to know I was sighing with you, Mitch!
Exactly the right truth for exactly this moment. Thanks, Kelly.
Thank you, Cheryl, I like the way you say that. The right truth can be found in any moment I suppose, if we can get quiet enough to see it.
Seasons ebb and flow, hills and valleys…..no place to get to but here… wise words my friend, wise indeed. As always, thank you for this!
You're so welcome, Heather, it's great to hear from you!

And thank you for your service, Laura!
Yes Laura, thank you for your service! 🇺🇸

That means a lot coming from you, Brent. Thank you, brother! 🙏🏻
So much truth, so few know it yet. Sighing with you.
May we all sigh together eventually. 😊

Ha! "Disappointingly true as Hell." You crack me up, Marilyn. I hope you had a wonderful, grateful Fourth!

Wouldn't that be something? An appreciation for the human condition! In its entirety...
Excellent column, Kelly. And to think how far we've traveled! https://tinyurl.com/3ucecxyj 🇺🇸
Thank you, Michael!
Thank you! Rather thought provoking.. It will take me several times to totally comprehend..
No worries, it's taking me a lifetime to comprehend, John. 😊
This post so resonated with me on this day. It brought a smile to my face and a letting go, a peace, in my inner space. Thanks Kelly
It makes me happy to hear that, Cathy. I wish we were having a Companion Camp this year so we would have an excuse to get together again! 😊
Me too! Companion camps have been a wonderful get a way for me to be with other like minded humans that want to grow. Have a good day!!!!
