Someone once asked me about how to solve their sadness. I asked, “Would you try to solve a river?” Problems are there to be solved; rivers are there to flow. How we see our pain will determine how we respond to it.
Jesus wept, and I don’t think he was surprised by what was happening around him. Hold the pendulum on the side of there, always must be joy, pleasure, and happiness, and you will use everyone up, including yourself. Hold the pendulum on the side of everything is wrong, what’s the use, why even try to give away my heart, and you may feel safe, but you will not be truly alive. A safe heart, cut off in darkness. So I pay attention when the Light of the World weeps.
In the same way, we are wise to ask ourselves, "For what reason do I have to NOT cry?"
I suppose the middle a of a board meeting might be a good answer, but other than the exceptions, I always wonder who I'm protecting with the resistance? It's certainly not others, and I'm doing this self thing no favors either.

I wrote a similar post this morning about the power of feeling your feelings. I love the analogy of the river, allowing it to flow. Wisdom and understanding definitely comes with feeling, not the other way around. The heart has so much more wisdom than the mind.
Sadness isn't a problem; it's a river. So profound, Kelly!
Thank you, Jane, I'm glad it resonated with you!

I love this. "But if we dare to love our people and our life, we’re going to feel pain."
A wonderful analogy to nature. Thank you.

Going to read it now!
